"Sed" Soda Advertisement

The goal of this project was to create a 3D animated advertisement for a new soda brand named "Sed" (which means "thirst" in Spanish). This included brand creation, 3D modeling, texturing, and animation to achieve the final product.

Programs Used:

- Brand Development

- 3D Modeling and Texturing

- 3D Animation

When it came to creating the brand I went for a more playful and fun stereotype akin to other fruit sodas such as Fanta or Crush. The logo being a liquid splat was also derivative from logos such as Nickelodeon’s which functioned as both a fun but also recognizable and iconic logo. I then decided on the three flavors the soda would launch with and created logos and graphics for them all. Then came the modeling process ensuring the can was as smooth and accurate as a real-life soda can should be. The cans were then textured in Substance Painter, three variants for each respective flavor were also created.

Afterwards the cans were animated and rendered out to create a 30 second advertisement in the end. After a few revisions the animation was updated to change or remove certain things. During the middle of the animation the camera would spin around the soda can but this was disorienting due to the background. This segment was removed and instead the can itself spins and rotates between the three flavors after each spin. The lighting in the animation as also adjusted to 3-point lighting which made a huge difference.

The condensation was also changed to be more realistic, less bubbles and a more wet texture on the can itself to make it appear cold. Finally, the ending card has a new dynamic sed logo that lands on screen causing the splat portion of the logo to splat out of it with sound effects. The surrounding text was also given new effects to not just plainly fade in but instead be a little more interesting. In the end the soda brand now has a fun 3D animation to introduce people to their new product, and it was an enjoyable project to work on and revise.
