DriftX Controller Advertisement
The goal of this project was to create a tech showcase for a new brand of video game controller that will be releasing soon. The controller was to be 3D modeled and animated, which in turn showcases its design and functions.
Programs Used:
- 3D Product Animation
- 3D Modeling
- Advertisement Creation

The initial step was to design the controller itself, this controller should look similar to other controllers from the modern age. A more rounded design that will be comfortable to hold, similar to what gamers are used to, while simultaneously being different enough to have its own identity. Creating a model like this was unlike anything I had ever modeled before as previously I had only modeled things that were geometric in nature, a more rounded and organic shape proved to be a struggle. I ended up modeling it in a geometric manner but then switched to a sculpting mode (within blender) and was successful in creating more organic shapes. The company logo was then created, using a sleek font akin to other companies in the gaming industry but with an emphasis on the X used in the logo.
Afterwards it was time to begin animating the controller, I wanted to use a lot of close up shots to showcase all the buttons moving and being animated on the controller. Camera movement was key in this, there needed to be a balance in the movement to not become disorienting. The controller then moves off to the side to create an ending card with the company name and further information in regards to where to order.

Upon revisiting this project later on I repolished the camera movements to not be too stiff, the camera now constantly moves to create a constant sense of motion while still making sure it’s not disorienting. The lighting was also changed to better highlight the controllers features, almost mimicking a professional lighting set up. Overall I really enjoyed working on this project and am glad that I learned new techniques on the way.
